Description: A beautiful pair with identical toning. Purchased from a direct descendant of King Kalakaua (Kaniokua) on the island of Kawaii in the 1980s. These coins were designed by Charles Barber and struck at the San Francisco Mint. 500,000 and 700,000 respectively but were demonitized in 1900 and the majority were melted, making these fairly scarce. Only very slight friction on original surfaces with an unusual, identical toning. The lighting for the photos is different, under incandescent light the coins look golden under regular daylight they look toned silver. Very attractive under any light. One price for the pair. A great addition to any collection. NOTE: This is a reverse auction meaning that I will lower the price every week until it sells.
